Puerto Natales is the gateway to Torres del Paine, whose granite towers and turquoise glacial lakes draw hikers to the multi-day W Circuit from around the world — the town itself is a working sheep-farming port that has grown into Patagonia's main trekking base. Puerto Varas, further north, is a different Chile entirely: a lakeside town founded by 19th-century German settlers, still recognisable in its architecture, set against the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco across Lake Llanquihue.

Our verified stays here are mostly wooden cabins, plus a single treehouse near Puerto Natales — built for cold-weather trekking bases rather than beach holidays. Several sit with direct views of the Paine massif or the lake and volcanoes.

November to March is Patagonian summer and the only realistic season for the W Circuit, though the weather can turn in minutes regardless of month; the Lake District is milder and usable for a longer stretch, roughly October to April. Our verified selection here is still modest — two distinct corners of Chile's south, with the rest of the country still to check.

How we choose what counts as a tiny house

Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.

Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
