Bamboo house VerifiedNinh Binh · Vietnam
Vietnam's verified cabins sit in Ninh Binh, the limestone-karst river country often called Halong Bay on land, plus a smaller cluster in the highland valley of Mai Chau.
15 verified tiny houses · see on the map →
Ninh Binh's rice paddies sit between the same dramatic limestone karsts that make Halong Bay famous, but on dry land — sampan boats punt through the caves and river channels at Trang An and Tam Coc, and Hoa Lu nearby was once Vietnam's ancient capital. It has become one of the country's most-photographed landscapes, easily reached as a day trip or overnight from Hanoi.
Mai Chau, further west in the mountains of Hòa Bình province, is a quieter valley of rice terraces and stilt-house villages belonging to the White Thai ethnic community — known for homestays and gentle cycling rather than boat rides through karst scenery.
Our verified stays here are mostly cabins and bungalows, with a couple of genuine bamboo houses in Ninh Binh — small, simple builds that lean into the local materials and landscape. March to May and September to November are the most comfortable months, avoiding the summer heat and heaviest rains; Mai Chau's valley floor stays pleasant slightly later into the season thanks to its altitude. Our verified selection here spans two very different sides of northern Vietnam, with the rest of the country still to check.

In Ninh Binh, the limestone-karst river region, and in Mai Chau, a highland valley in Hòa Bình province.
Its rice paddies sit among the same kind of dramatic limestone karst towers that make Halong Bay famous, but inland rather than out at sea.

March to May and September to November are the most comfortable months, avoiding summer heat and the heaviest monsoon rains.
Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.
The atlas currently lists 2632 hand-checked small stays across 363 destinations in 75 countries — 1484 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.
Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
