Tiny cabins for rent: 3756 verified small cabins and A-frames

Timber cabins are the most common building type in the atlas: 3756 of all 5517 listed stays are cabins or A-frames, spread over 76 countries. The word covers a lot of ground, from a one-room hut with a wood stove to a modern cabin with a glass front and a hot tub. That is why every card shows building type, guest capacity and price at a glance, and the panel below breaks the collection down by size.

Size is where cabins differ most. Hosts in the US and Scandinavia use the word for fairly large holiday homes as well, so our check rejects any cabin that sleeps more than six guests or has four or more bedrooms, and anything that is really a room in a lodge or motel. What stays in is a free-standing small building that you get to yourself, booked directly with the host.

The country list below shows where the collection is deepest. The United States has the largest share, with cabin regions such as Hocking Hills in Ohio and Broken Bow in Oklahoma, while France, the UK, Norway and Romania have large clusters in forest and mountain areas. Across the 3756 cabins with a price on file, the median is €169 a night, and half of them cost between €96 and €257.

Cabins work all year. October foliage weekends are the busiest time in the Appalachian and Midwest cabin regions, winter brings demand to ski areas in the Alps, Scandinavia and the Carpathians, and summer is the main season around lakes and on the coast. From November to March a cabin with a stove or fireplace is the safer choice, and midweek nights outside the holidays are usually the cheapest.
