Dalarna, centred on Lake Siljan, is Sweden's folklore heartland — the region most associated with the red-painted Dala horse, midsummer traditions and traditional timber cottage architecture, set among forest and farmland around the lake. Åre, further north in Jämtland, is Sweden's best-known ski resort, a mountain village that switches from winter downhill skiing to summer hiking and mountain biking on the same slopes.

Gotland, out in the Baltic Sea, is a different world again: a limestone island with the medieval walled town of Visby, wide-open countryside and dramatic rock stacks called raukar along parts of its coast — reachable by ferry rather than a mountain drive.

Our four verified stays here are simple wooden cabins, mostly with one or two bedrooms and room for two to six guests. June to August is Sweden's short, bright summer, best for Gotland's coast and Siljan's lake; Åre adds a winter season, December to April, for skiing. Our verified selection spans three quite different corners of Sweden, with more of the country still to check.

How we choose what counts as a tiny house

Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.

Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
