Tiny houses in the Netherlands

Drenthe is the country's slow-travel province, dotted with prehistoric hunebedden (dolmen tombs) and some of the darkest night skies in the Netherlands — a landscape of heath, forest and farm campsites that has long favoured trekkershutten, simple cabins built for hikers and cyclists passing through. The Veluwe, further west, is the country's largest nature reserve, its heath and forest laced with cycling routes between the Hoge Veluwe National Park and old market towns.

Twente, hard against the German border, rounds things out with rolling farmland and country estates — a quieter, less-visited region good for a long weekend rather than a headline destination.

Our verified stays here are a genuine mix: cabins, a couple of pods, several proper tiny houses, and even a mobile home on the Veluwe — a wider variety of small-stay types than in most single countries in this atlas. May to September is the easy season for cycling and outdoor time in all three provinces; the Netherlands' mild, wet climate means something is bookable nearly year-round. Our verified selection here spans a good cross-section of the country's inland nature provinces, with the coast still to check.
