Tiny House Atlas

Tiny houses in Jordan

Jordan's tiny-house map has two very different faces: bubble domes glowing under the stars in the red desert of Wadi Rum, and plain wooden cabins tucked into the oak forest of Ajloun.

Two pockets make up Jordan's verified stays so far, and they could hardly be more different. Wadi Rum, the vast desert of sandstone mountains and red dunes in the south near Aqaba, accounts for most of the listings — seven of twelve — and nearly all of them are fixed transparent bubble domes. Ajloun Forest, a wooded reserve in the country's northwest, holds the rest: five simple cabins among oak and pistachio trees.

Wadi Rum needs little introduction — this is the desert that stood in for Mars in Hollywood films and inspired T.E. Lawrence's writing, a landscape of towering rock formations, canyons and dunes that turns deep orange at sunset. The bubble camps here are built around that view: transparent or semi-transparent domes pitched on the sand so guests can watch the stars from bed, usually run by Bedouin-owned outfits alongside jeep tours and campfire dinners. It's a higher-end segment of glamping — the average night across Jordan runs around 128 euros, pulled up by these desert domes — rather than budget backpacking.

Ajloun is the quieter counterpart, a nature reserve of Mediterranean oak forest around the 12th-century Ajloun Castle, cool and green in a country better known for desert. The cabins here are simple wooden buildings rather than domes, a good match for hikers and for anyone combining a stay with the Roman ruins at Jerash, less than an hour away.

The two regions run on different clocks. Wadi Rum is best from October to April, when desert days are warm but not punishing and nights are clear for stargazing — summer here is genuinely too hot for camping. Ajloun's forest is at its best in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Both are reached via Amman's airports, with camps in Wadi Rum typically arranging pickup from the village or from Aqaba. Jordan's tiny-house map is still just these two pockets rather than a nationwide network, but each is a distinct and worthwhile trip in its own right.

Good to know

What kind of tiny stays does Jordan have?

Mostly desert bubble domes in Wadi Rum (seven of the twelve verified listings) plus a handful of wooden cabins in Ajloun Forest — very different experiences a few hours apart.

When is the best time to visit Wadi Rum?

October to April. Summer temperatures in the desert are too extreme for comfortable camping, and the clear winter nights are what make the bubble domes worth it.

Is Ajloun worth combining with other sights?

Yes — it sits under an hour from the Roman ruins at Jerash and is an easy addition to a Wadi Rum or Amman-based trip, offering forest and castle scenery as a contrast to the desert.

What's the price level like?

Jordan's tiny stays average around 128 euros a night, higher than many countries on this list — driven by the higher-end bubble-camp segment in Wadi Rum rather than budget cabins.

How we choose what counts as a tiny house

Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.

The atlas currently lists 2632 hand-checked small stays across 363 destinations in 75 countries — 1484 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.

Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
