Wadi Rum is Jordan's red desert, a valley of towering sandstone massifs that turn orange and pink at sunset - the same landscape used to double as Mars in The Martian and as Arrakis in Dune. Tiny-house living here means transparent bubble domes and geodesic pods pitched directly on the sand, run largely by Bedouin families who also handle the jeep safaris and camel treks. There's no wandering into a nearby town for dinner - camps serve meals on-site, and the whole point is watching the sky through the dome roof.
Every unit here is a dome built for two to four guests, priced around 110 euros a night, which is mid-range for desert glamping in Jordan. Days are built around 4x4 tours out to Lawrence's Spring and the Umm ad Dami summit, with Aqaba's beach and dive sites an hour away if you want to add coast time. Nights are the reason to come: no light pollution, and temperatures that swing from hot afternoons to genuinely cold after dark.

Why book through the atlas
Every place is checked by name and type before it goes live — no hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.
These stays we confirmed with an outside source on top, and amenities like hot tubs count only once verified — never guessed.
Your booking completes on Booking.com or Vrbo at their price. The atlas earns a small commission, at no cost to you.
Good to know
When should I visit Wadi Rum for a bubble camp stay?
October to April, when daytime temperatures stay comfortable for jeep safaris and camel treks; June to August gets brutally hot even though the domes have AC.
How do I get to Wadi Rum?
Fly into Aqaba, then it's about an hour by transfer to the desert camps; from Amman it's a four-hour drive, doable as part of a longer Jordan loop.
Is this a luxury stay or basic camping?
The bubble domes here run around 110 euros a night and lean toward comfort - proper beds, ensuite bathrooms in most camps - not survival camping, even though you're sleeping in the middle of the desert.
How we choose what counts as a tiny house
Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.
The atlas currently lists 2632 hand-checked small stays across 363 destinations in 75 countries — 1484 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.
Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
