Unlike most countries on this list, Bolivia's verified stays don't spread across several regions — all six sit in and around Samaipata, a small town roughly two and a half hours from the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. It's an honest starting point rather than a full national picture: this is one corner of a very large and varied country, not a survey of it.
Samaipata sits at about 1,650 metres in the eastern foothills of the Andes, cooler and greener than the tropical lowlands around Santa Cruz city. The town is best known for El Fuerte de Samaipata, a UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site carved by pre-Inca cultures and later used by the Inca, and for bordering Amboró National Park, one of the most biodiverse protected areas in South America, where the Amazon, the Andes and the Chaco meet. The town itself has long attracted a small community of foreign residents, giving it a relaxed, slightly bohemian feel.
The stays are mostly simple wooden cabañas (four of six) plus two glamping-style domes, generally family-run and modest rather than luxurious, averaging 80 euros a night — a mid-range price for the region.
The best season is May to September, the dry season, when hiking in Amboró and visiting El Fuerte are at their most comfortable. Samaipata is reached via the Viru Viru airport in Santa Cruz, then bus or car; in the wet season (roughly November to March) trails can turn muddy and parts of Amboró become harder to access.

Good to know
Does Bolivia have tiny houses beyond Samaipata?
Not yet in our verified data — all six listed stays sit in or near this one town. Treat it as a single well-covered destination rather than a national overview.
What's the draw of Samaipata?
The pre-Inca ruins at El Fuerte de Samaipata (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the edge of Amboró National Park, one of the most biodiverse reserves in South America, plus a cooler, greener climate than nearby Santa Cruz city.
When should I visit?
May to September, the dry season, best for hiking and visiting the ruins; the wet season (roughly November to March) leaves some trails muddy.
What kind of stays and what's the price level?
Mostly simple wooden cabins, plus a couple of domes, averaging around 80 euros a night — modest, family-run places rather than resorts.
How we choose what counts as a tiny house
Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.
The atlas currently lists 2632 hand-checked small stays across 363 destinations in 75 countries — 1484 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.
Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
