Tiny House Atlas

Tiny houses in Finland

Finland's verified stay is a glass igloo north of the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, the gateway to Finnish Lapland and the official home of Santa Claus.

Rovaniemi sits right on the Arctic Circle line, which runs through the Santa Claus Village just outside town — the reason the city bills itself as Santa's official hometown, tourist office and all. But its real draw for cabin travellers is what surrounds it: dark, snow-heavy forest, frozen rivers, and some of the most reliable aurora viewing in Europe once the sky is dark enough, roughly late August through early April.

The stay we have verified here is a glass-roofed igloo — a small dome built specifically so you can watch the sky, whether that's the aurora in winter or the midnight sun in June and July, from a warm bed rather than standing outside in the cold. It's a purpose-built novelty stay rather than an off-grid retreat, and it comes with a well-known name in Arctic tourism attached.

Winter (December–March) is peak season for snow activities and aurora chances, though the cold is real — minus 15°C or colder is normal; summer brings the midnight sun and hiking instead. Our verified selection in Finland is still small — Finnish Lakeland, further south, has no verified stays yet, so Lapland is currently the only option.

Good to know

Where in Finland is the verified stay?

In Rovaniemi, Finnish Lapland, right on the Arctic Circle — the gateway city to the north and official home of Santa Claus.

What is a glass igloo?

A small dome-shaped cabin with a glass or clear ceiling panel, built so you can watch the aurora or the midnight sun from bed rather than standing outside in the cold.

When is the best time for the northern lights here?

Roughly late August through early April, once the sky is dark enough — winter (December to March) has the longest, darkest nights and the best odds.

Are there verified stays in Finnish Lakeland too?

Not yet — currently our only verified Finland stay is in Lapland, around Rovaniemi. We're still working through the rest of the country.

How we choose what counts as a tiny house

Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.

Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
