Tiny houses in De Peel & the Strabrechtse Heide

The Strabrechtse Heide south-east of Eindhoven, between Heeze, Mierlo and Someren, covers about 1,500 hectares of heather, drift sand and shallow fens, crossed by walking trails. East of it lies De Peel proper, once a vast peat bog; its largest surviving remnant is De Groote Peel National Park near Ospel, where cranes stop over in autumn on their way south. Eindhoven is about 20 minutes by car. The whole area is covered by the Dutch cycle junction network, so routes can be put together from numbered signposts, and the holiday parks mostly sit at the edge of the woods. The heather flowers from mid-August.
