The Poconos punch above their weight for a weekend escape. Within 90 minutes of New York or Philadelphia you can be sitting on a tiny-house deck listening to Bushkill Falls — one of the tallest waterfalls in Pennsylvania — just a short drive away. The landscape is soft and dense: hemlock ravines, beaver ponds and ridge-top meadows that turn spectacular in mid-October when the maples fire up. Tiny houses, A-frames and treehouses cluster especially around Delaware Water Gap and Jim Thorpe, the latter a Victorian mining town now beloved for whitewater rafting on the Lehigh River.
Because the Poconos work year-round, the hosting scene is mature — many properties are insulated four-season cabins with full kitchens, hot tubs and fireplaces. Winter skiing at resorts like Camelback and Jack Frost is a genuine draw. Spring means rafting season on the Delaware and Lehigh rivers. Summer heat from the cities makes the forested Pocono plateau feel almost cool by comparison.

Good to know
What is the best time to visit the Poconos for a tiny-house getaway?
Mid-September to late October offers peak foliage with crisp hiking weather, while July–August is ideal for river rafting and waterfall walks — the Poconos genuinely reward a visit in any season.
How do I get from New York or Philadelphia to the Poconos?
Both cities are roughly 1.5 hours by car — New York via I-80 West or I-78 West, Philadelphia via I-78 West or US-209 North. There are also daily bus services from Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC to several Pocono towns.
Are the Pocono tiny houses suitable for families with young children?
Many properties are family-friendly with fenced yards, game rooms and proximity to calm Delaware River beaches — confirm sleeping capacity and water/road safety with hosts, especially for treehouses with elevated decks.
How we choose what counts as a tiny house
Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.
Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
