Fly to Gran Canaria (LPA); 1 hr drive.
Climate
Subtropical mountain; mild year-round.
Tejeda sits in the volcanic centre of Gran Canaria, ringed by the island's two signature rock formations: Roque Nublo, an 80-metre basalt monolith, and Roque Bentayga, an ancient Guanche ceremonial site across the caldera. The village is regularly listed among Spain's most beautiful, and in late January and early February the surrounding almond orchards bloom pink and white for the Fiesta del Almendro en Flor — reason enough on its own for a visit. Casas rurales and small tiny-house-style cabins are scattered across the hillsides above the village, many run by families who grow the almonds themselves.
Tejeda is noticeably cooler than the coast — expect a jumper at night even in summer — and the altitude means clear stargazing on calm nights. Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) is about an hour's drive, mostly on winding mountain roads; renting a car is close to essential, since buses to Tejeda run only a few times a day.

Why book through the atlas
Every place is checked by name and type before it goes live — no hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.
These stays we confirmed with an outside source on top, and amenities like hot tubs count only once verified — never guessed.
Your booking completes on Booking.com or Vrbo at their price. The atlas earns a small commission, at no cost to you.
Good to know
Is there tiny house accommodation in Gran Canaria's interior?
Yes, though supply is limited — most options are small casas rurales or converted stone cabins around Tejeda and neighbouring villages, often family-run and booked out well ahead of the February almond blossom.
When is the almond blossom in Tejeda?
Usually late January into the first half of February; exact timing shifts a week or two with the winter weather, so check closer to the date if that's the reason for your trip.
How far is Tejeda from the airport or the coastal resorts?
About an hour's drive from Gran Canaria Airport (LPA), and roughly the same from southern resorts like Maspalomas — the roads are mountainous, so distances feel longer than the kilometres suggest.
How we choose what counts as a tiny house
Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.
The atlas currently lists 2632 hand-checked small stays across 363 destinations in 75 countries — 1484 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.
Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
