Karrebæksminde has the relaxed tempo of a harbour town that hasn't tried too hard to become a destination — the old fishing boats still come in, the ice-cream queue forms early, and the Enø peninsula beach is sandy and shallow enough for small children. Tiny houses and coastal bungalows here sit in direct relationship with the water: fjord views from the deck, salt air through open windows and often a kayak or paddleboard included in the stay. The season runs roughly May to September, when the light is long and the estuary glitters.
Næstved, South Zealand's main city, is a quick drive for a larger lunch or a market, and Gavnø Castle with its tulip park is a genuinely lovely half-day excursion in late spring. The sailing culture is tangible here — it's easy to arrange a day on the water even without your own boat.
