Tiny houses & cabins in Jahorina

Log cabins sit in the spruce forest of Jahorina, the mountain that hosted the alpine skiing events of the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics and still carries that legacy in its ski infrastructure today. Locals call these timber cabins brvnare — thick log walls and steep roofs built for heavy snow, much like their counterparts elsewhere in the former Yugoslavia. Sarajevo's old town is only half an hour down the mountain, so it's easy to split a trip between the forest and the city.

Winter is still Jahorina's main season, with runs that suit beginners and intermediates better than the steepest Alpine resorts, but summer has quietly become its own draw: the same slopes turn into hiking and mountain-biking terrain, and the forest stays noticeably cooler than Sarajevo in the valley below. Ravna Planina, a smaller plateau nearby, adds another easy hiking loop for an extra day.
