Getting there

25 min from Essaouira, 3 hrs from Marrakech.

Climate

Mild Atlantic; breezy trade winds, never too hot.

Sidi Kaouki is what Essaouira was thirty years ago: one sandy street, a ruined marabout shrine on the rocks, and a beach that runs south for kilometres with more camels than people on it. The trade winds that batter this coast make it one of Morocco's best surf and kite spots — and keep it cool all summer while Marrakech bakes. The cabins and bungalows sit behind the dunes among argan trees, close enough to hear the Atlantic all night.

Days here are simple: surf in the morning (several schools rent boards by the beach), a long lunch of grilled sardines, then a horse or camel ride down the empty sand toward Cap Sim. Essaouira's fortified medina, fishing port and gnaoua music scene are 25 minutes up the road for whenever the village feels too quiet — which is exactly the point of staying here.

Good to know

When is the best time to visit Sidi Kaouki?

Any month works — the Atlantic keeps temperatures mild year-round. Spring and summer bring strong, reliable wind for surfing and kiting; September to November is calmer, warmer in the water and best for a quiet cabin stay.

How do I get to Sidi Kaouki?

Essaouira's airport is only 15 minutes away, with the town itself 25 minutes north; local bus no. 5 and taxis connect the village to Essaouira. From Marrakech it is about a three-hour drive.

What kind of tiny houses are there in Sidi Kaouki?

Small bungalows and wooden chalets behind the dunes and among argan groves — simple, breezy places pitched at surfers and couples, often with roof terraces facing the ocean. A handful of eco cabins dot the countryside toward Essaouira.

How we choose what counts as a tiny house

Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.

The atlas currently lists 5517 hand-checked small stays across 485 destinations in 79 countries — 3731 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.

Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
