Getting there

1 hr from Novi Sad, 2 hrs from Belgrade.

Climate

Continental; mild, green uplands.

Fruška Gora rises out of the flat Vojvodina plain like a green island, and log cabins hide among its oak and beech woods within easy reach of Novi Sad. The hills hold sixteen Serbian Orthodox monasteries, some dating back to the Middle Ages, spread along quiet forest roads that also pass vineyards producing some of Serbia's better-known wines. It's a gentler landscape than the mountains further south — rolling rather than steep, and easy to explore on a bike or on foot.

Vrdnik, a small thermal spa town, sits at the foot of the hills and makes a good base if you want a pool alongside the forest walks. Novi Sad itself is only about an hour away, so a cabin here works equally well as a quiet retreat or as a base for day trips into the city, while Belgrade is a two-hour drive if you want to combine the two.

Good to know

What's special about Fruška Gora?

It's a forested upland rising unexpectedly out of the flat Vojvodina plain, dotted with sixteen Serbian Orthodox monasteries and vineyards — a green, monastery-studded landscape that feels a world away from the surrounding farmland.

How do I get there?

It's about an hour from Novi Sad and two hours from Belgrade by car; there's no direct train into the hills themselves, so a car (or a taxi from Novi Sad) is the practical option.

What's the best time of year to visit?

April through October covers the mildest weather for hiking and monastery visits, with the vineyards at their best around harvest time in September.

How we choose what counts as a tiny house

Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. So we check every place by name and type and list only genuine free-standing small homes: tiny houses (on wheels or fixed), cabins, glamping pods, shepherd huts, yurts, domes and tree houses. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.

The atlas currently lists 2632 hand-checked small stays across 363 destinations in 75 countries — 1484 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.

Prices and availability come from our booking partners and can change at any time. Booking links are affiliate links — booking through them supports this site at no extra cost to you. Property type is checked from the listing name and category; if you spot a mistake, let us know.
