The Flint Hills are the last big stretch of tallgrass prairie in North America, rolling limestone country between Emporia and Manhattan with the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve at Cottonwood Falls. Cabins here are on the reservoirs, Toronto Lake in the Cross Timbers to the south, Milford and Tuttle Creek to the north, and the spring burn turns the hills black and then green.
