Tiny House Atlas

Tiny houses in the Talladega National Forest

Childersburg sits on the Coosa River in east-central Alabama, on the western edge of the Talladega National Forest. The forest covers the southern tail of the Appalachians, where Cheaha Mountain reaches 735 metres, the highest point in Alabama, with a stone observation tower and rock ledges looking out over the treetops. The Pinhoti Trail follows these ridges for more than 500 kilometres towards Georgia. Closer to town, the Coosa is dammed into a chain of reservoirs such as Lay Lake and Logan Martin Lake, popular with anglers and paddlers. Birmingham is about 45 minutes away, and spring and October are the most comfortable months to visit.

How we choose what counts as a tiny house

Booking sites don’t have a “tiny house” category — they file these stays under the generic “Accommodation” label. No hotel rooms, no ordinary apartments.

The atlas currently lists 5517 hand-checked small stays across 485 destinations in 79 countries — 3731 of them additionally verified through independent research with a documented source.
